Wednesday Racing - Winter Course

The Wednesday Night RACING SHEET

Winter Course

(Open to all Sailboats)

The course is as follows. (see course chart below)

    • The winter course start/finish line is the line drawn between the #3 Dolphin and the flag pole on Wing Point.
    • Round Blakely Rock leaving it to Port (counter clockwise) Please watch out for the submerged rocks on the North and North East Side Blakely Rock.
    • Finish by way of leaving the Red Nun to port and return to the start line.

Start Times

  • The start sequence begins at 12:00 PM Wednesday and the start time calculations (below) are staggered based on PHRF Rating and Course Length .   We use the GPS time as a reference.   The goal is to make this fun so we'll adjust start times as necessary to get closer finishes.
  • Since ratings are based on flying a spinnaker,  If you don't plan to fly a spinnaker then you start at least 5 minutes earlier than your official  time.
  • All other boats should use the PHRF ratings associated with your vessel.  There is no requirement for a formal PHRF rating.

Rules

  • All US Sailing Rules apply.
  • This is an informal race and it's expected that boats will avoid collisions at all cost since there is no formal Protest committee
  • You may clear any right of way infractions by completing a 720 turn before finishing.
  • Just show up,  or  contact us at info@the-biyc.us if you need assistance.
  • Let us know if you're looking for crew and we'll see if we can recruit some for you.
