BIYC Work Incentive Program: [return]As BIYC grows its membership and its boating related activities, the need for human resources to provide support to these programs has also grown! Programs like our yacht club owned Soling program, our “BOCK” [Boat Dock aka: harbor viewing platform], great parties and events, cruises, community outreach, club house upkeep (an annual requirement) and member communications, (newsletters, web site, fliers, posters, etc.) are all in urgent need of more volunteer effort. For the past 5 years, this work has been completed and maintained by founding members which has to date kept the Bainbridge Island Yacht Club afloat. It was the opinion of the BIYC Board of Directors that increased membership involvement would produce a more quality experience for current members, and would have the effect of increasing new membership – thus creating the necessary revenue stream for building an even better organization. Therefore, the 2011 BIYC Board of Director’s passed a resolution (November 12, 2001) that we develop a program that would encourage membership to become more involved in yacht club support and provide the necessary labor to continue the growth of our yacht club. How this works is, included in your 2012 Membership Dues Invoice, you will find a $50 Work Incentive Program (WIP) assessment that can be waived (reduced to $0) during the calendar year by participating in two (2) volunteer events (from the growing list provided below). Each event is estimated to be 2 to 3 hours of effort and can be completed any time during billing cycle (calendar year). Each completed event will have the effect of reducing the assessment by $25. Should you be unable or uninterested in providing this support to the yacht club, you would be required to send your membership dues payment with the WIP assessment included (i.e. membership dues + WIP assessment = $150 at this writing).
